Turkmenistan trip: Tour 2
Day 1: Ashgabat
Welcome to marble Ashgabat! Upon arrival you will be met at International Airport and transferred to a hotel. After rest we will travel to the famous "Nisa" (UNESCO World Heritage since 2007). In past times it was the capital of the Parthian Empire ruled between the III millennium BC - III millennium AD. We will visit a mosque and mausoleum of the late President of Turkmenistan in Gypjak. Transfer to a hotel for rest.
Day 2: Ashgabat - Darwaza - Ashgabat
In the morning we will drive to the National Museum of History and Museum Carpet. In the afternoon we will travel 240km to the Gas Crater as Darwaza. We will have stop in the village of Erbent and see stunning gview of the gas crater. Transfer back to Ashgabat. Night is in a hotel.
Day 3: Ashgabat - Mary - Gonurdepe
Today we will travel to the 5th center of civilization Margush and Gonurdepe. It is located north-east site 90 km from Mary city. The perfect Bronze Age civilization originated here and identified as Margush, meaning "lowland", or from the Greek name of Margiana. It was exposed since the early 1970s by Professor Viktor Sarianidi - the leader of Margiana Archaeological Expedition. It is significant to note that the Bronze Age sites were found yonder the northern edge of the present-day oasis, where you can find desert. Climatic change produced the abandonment of the area, which later became the result that the carcasses of the Bronze Age are fresh-looking beneath the desert soils. The Margiana sites have close assembly with those at Bactria, in present-day northern Afghanistan. Sarianidi rights that the Bactria Margiana complex was the foremost center of ancient civilization, and also Margiana may even have been a source of Zoroastrianism. Then we will visit National History and Ethnology Museum. Rest.
Day 4: Mary - Merv - Ashgabat
In the morning we will travel to Ancient Merv. This historical Merv complex is situated at the Great Silk Road which is measured to be one of the largest and biggest cities of the ancient world as well as one of the most important capitals of Islam along with Baghdad, Cairo and Damascus. Travelers will have a guided tour to Gyz Gala, Erk Gala, Soltan Gala, Soltan Sanjar Mausoleum, Ibn Zeid Mausoleum. Afterwards we will drive to Mary city. On arrival we will drive to Ashgabat city. Overnight is in a hotel.
Day 5: Ashgabat
In the morning you will travel to the horse farm where you can see the renowned Akhal Teke horses. You will have an opportunity for horse riding and then visit the memorial complex and the Russian market. Being in Russian market you will be overwhelmed by its plan and diversity of goods as the mix of Russian and Turkmen traditional ornaments. Transfer to a hotel for rest.
Day 6: Flight
The tour program in Turkmenistan is over.
